Cahermurphy N.S, Kilmihil is situated 2.5 miles north of Kilmihil village.It is a rural school with 2 mainstream teachers, 1 Learning Support teacher , I Special Needs Assistant and one secretary on the staff. Mona Lineen-O’Donoghue is the Junior Room teacher ( Juniors, 1st, 2nd) and Marie Egan is the senior room teacher (3rd, 4th, 5th , 6th). The school promotes the full and harmonious development of all aspects of the pupil to enable them to develop to their full potential. School activities include swimming lessons in Lahinch Seaworld, during the school day. Concertina, fiddle and tin whistle classes are taught on a weekly basis. The school supplies concertinas and fiddles which children borrow and bring home on a rota basis. Our class size affords us the opportunity to give individual attention to all pupils.Our annual Christmas concert is a very enjoyable evening for all the parents, grandparents and community featuring a junior room and senior room drama , with music and dance.
The children also partake in Chess, Reading Challenge Activities, Yoga and local GAA coaching. Competitions regularly entered are Feile na hInse, Art and Science competitions, Swimming Gala annually and school quizzes. Children enjoy growing vegetables in our school garden. School equipmnet eg. balls, stilts, space hoppers, rackets, hurleys are enjoyed by the children at break times. Our Parents Association are actively involved with the schoo, policies are reviewed with parents and teachers and ratified by the Board of Management. |
