Happy New Year

December 31st, 2008 No Comments

Greetings and a very happy and healthy New Year to all Kilmihil people and their descendants all over the world who read this website. Thanks to all who contacted us during the year especially those trying to trace their relatives in Kilmihil. It has been a mixed year some good, some bad but as history tells us some things never change

Ring out the old, ring in the new

Ring happy bells across the snow

The year is going, let him go

Ring out the false ring in the true

Ring out old shapes of foul disease

Ring out the narrowing lust of gold

Ring out the thousand wars of old

Ring in the thousand years of peace.

This extract from one of Tennyson’s poems was written in 1850 so our new year wishes are still the same. Nothing changes but where their is life there is hope.

Happy new year

Hard luck to the Intermediate football team who lost the Munster final on Sunday. No fault to the lads who came up against a better team but congratulations for all the success and great pleasure given to supporters during the year.

What a wonderful day for the parish. Our women footballers won the all Ireland title in Tuam on Saturday last. It was a truly marvellous performance from all the girls and a great Kilmihil support were thrilled at the display. Congratulations to all involved, the panel and the management team.
